How To : Have a Successful Productive Day

Wednesday, February 07, 2018

Procrastination has always been and always will be my worst enemy. Sometimes ( well most of the time ), procrastination will win over me and just leave me feeling lazy, remorse and defeated. And I bloody hate that! I'm sure most of you can relate to this haha.

Although having a productive day can be a real struggle but there are a few tips which are helpful to me and I hope it will do the same to you too.

-- List down all of your missions --
As for me, I love using a whiteboard. I know it's weird but I find it very handy since the whiteboard is quite big. So it helps me on reminding myself that I need to get stuff done instead of mind bottling my tasks and eventually forget about it or never get it done. If you don't have a whiteboard, you can always use a bullet journal, planner and other great organisation tools.

-- Exercise in the morning --
I may not be the fittest person but whenever I work out in the morning, I find myself to be more energetic throughout the day compare to the days that I don't work out. Working out in the morning changes my mindset a bit. It's a great way to start the morning off as it makes yourself to feel better. Gosh I'm so crappy at explaining this but I'm sure those who does this can understand haha ..... well, do you?

-- Keep all of your gadgets out of your sight --
Keeping my phone/laptop away has really been a great struggle of mine in the beginning. This is because watching Youtube videos and scrolling through my socials feed are my passion. I remembered telling myself "5 more minutes" continuously and ended up starting my chores or homework etc 2 hours later. So, keeping your gadgets away can make you actually "work" and it doesn't take as much time as you would've when you don't restrict yourself to your gadgets. You can also install apps that can restrict the usage of your gadgets from the app store or google play.

-- You're in control of your mind --
Ignore the little voices in your head. Those are negative distractions which are keeping you one step behind from having a successful productive day. Use different kind of words which you know can that can help you to push yourself further. It can be as simple as changing words from want/need to MUST. I think making slight changes like this can stimulate your mind onto getting things done.
YOU ARE in control of EVERYTHING!

-- Give yourself a big reward --
Metaphorically speaking, think of this as a game. You have to complete all of the levels in order to get the grand prize. And my "grand prize" is always FOOD. I mean, who does not like food? Especially after a long day of being productive haha. It's a way of saying good job to yourself. I mean  a lil bit of brownie and quiche wouldn't hurt anyone right?

So, what are you still waiting for? Starting today is always better than tomorrow :)
